George Magan
Chairman of Investment Committee (Independent)
George is a partner/director in a number of investment banking businesses focused on corporate finance and M&A advisory, hedge fund management, private equity, venture capital and other areas of principal investment. He is currently Chairman of Mallett Plc, Chairman of Morgan Shipley Limited (Dubai), Chairman of Carlton Capital Partners, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ireland, a senior adviser to Rhône Capital and a member of the Advisory Boards of Heritage Bank & Trust (Geneva), the Axa Private Equity Secondary Funds and the Abdul Latif Jameel Organisation (Saudi Arabia). George joined the Corporate Finance Department of Kleinwort Benson in 1971, later moving to Morgan Grenfell where he became a director. In 1988 he co-founded J.O. Hambro Magan, an investment banking business, which was subsequently sold to NatWest. George qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Peat Marwick Mitchell.
Jim Babcock
Executive Director
Jim founded Babcock & Brown in 1977. Prior to this he practiced corporate and tax law. Jim is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School where he was a member and officer of the law review. Jim is based in the San Francisco office.
Phil Green
Executive Director
Mr Green is a Director of a number of companies including Everest Babcock & Brown, Babcock & Brown Capital Limited and of the responsible entity of Babcock & Brown Japan Property Trust. He is also a Trustee of the SCG Trust.
Mr Green holds Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Law degrees from the University of New South Wales. Prior to joining Babcock & Brown, Mr Green worked as a Senior Manager with Arthur Anderson where he specialised in taxation. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1981 and was admitted as a solicitor in NSW in 1978.
Mike Maxwell
Head of the Regional Management Committee for Asia
Mike is Head of the Regional Management Committee for Asia. He joined Babcock & Brown in January 1992. Prior to joining Babcock & Brown, Michael was an executive director of international merchant bank, Morgan Grenfell, focusing on cross-border corporate finance transactions, and prior to then as a corporate solicitor with one of Australia's largest legal firms Mallesons Stephen Jacques.
Edward Hanson
CEO of BBGP
Edward is focussed on the BBGP funds and capital raising for Babcock & Brown’s global businesses. Edward was the driving force behind the establishment of BBGP I in 2005. In parallel he has been a senior member of Babcock & Brown’s European Real Estate business. He joined Babcock & Brown in 1997 and has worked across the various sectors of Babcock & Brown, including corporate finance, leasing, property and infrastructure. He has more than 11 years of experience in sourcing, structuring and managing projects. Edward holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree form the University of Auckland with first class honours in Finance and Economics, also majoring in Accounting and Commercial Law.
