BBGP invests in Turkey’s leading airport operator
On 19 December 2006, Babcock & Brown Global Partners (“BBGP”) and Babcock & Brown (ASX: BNB) acquired a 6% equity interest in TAV Havalimanlan Isletme A.S. (“TAV Airports”), an airport operating company, which holds the concessions for the Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir airports in Turkey, and the Tbilisi airport in Georgia. These four airports presently service over 27 million passengers per annum. BBGP expects TAV Airports to benefit from capitalising on the significant passenger traffic growth in the airports currently operated and obtaining new airport concessions both in Turkey and overseas. TAV Airports has applied to the Istanbul Stock Exchange for a public offering of 17% of its share capital.
